Why WordPress?

“So,” you may ask, “How is it that the king-of-no-boxware chooses to use WordPress for his own site?”  That’s a legitimate question.  Do you want the long answer, or the short answer?

The Long Answer

I’m not against boxware as a matter of principle. If a particular ready-made program fits the requirements of the project, by all means use it!  But I’ve found that many website requirements are better facilitated with custom code, rather than trying to shoehorn them into a ready-made solution.

I chose WordPress because I wanted to find out more about its capabilities. I’ve already set up several WordPress blogs for my clients, and like most of us, I’m amazed at the way this particular program has expanded over time. New widgets, plug-ins and themes are being designed every day, and putting up a WordPress blog on my own site was the best way to stay abreast of all the updates.

I still believe that WordPress is one of the best ways to publish a blog, and I’m likely to recommend it again. Besides, I wanted to see what I could do with it.  (I hope it works…)

The Short Answer

I wanted a blog for myself.
